With the two wolves ripping at the bull's neck, he had little chance of getting up and fighting now. He changed to his other weapons, his hooves. Though his legs were wobbly as he was losing strength, he kicked and lashed out with all four pistons from his downed position. He knew that he would have a better chance of injuring another if he still fought.
The healthy female by now had regained her senses. And she was livid. She felt all the anger of caribou in the past who had lost herd members to such cowards as wolves, bears, polar bears, and humans. The feeling seemed to trip a circuit within her, and she reared like the male, before charging the other two wolves. She was at least thankful that the black demon wolf was gone, the one that started it all. A snort, full of rage, emitted from her nares, and she bellowed all her fury at the others.

Cloud turned around on the bull's back and saw the female begin to charge. Cloud bared her ivories and lept again, this time for the female's stomach.
Cloud dashed between the fore legs and ripped at the skin with her teeth and claws. She darted away again, not daring to see if she had struck home.
She ran back to the bull again and unsheathed her front ivories. Cloud raised a paw and swiped at the belly. This time his insides came pouring out. Perfect. He would die fast, and she could maybe get Lakota out for under him.
Cloud raced around to the other side of the bull where only Lakota's ears were sticking out.

Cloud ran back a ways, careful to keep out of range of the male's flailing hooves. She tensed all her muscles and ran at the male's back, crashing into it with her shoulder. He rocked a little, still kicking, and bellowed- or at least tried to. She crashed into him again, her tiny frame carrying so much momentum that he moved a few inches ove. revealing Lakota's head.
"Lakota! Are you all right?" Cloud asked anxiously, still dodging hooves.

The healthy female had sustained little damage from the white female, and was all the more enraged by the attempted attack. But Cloud had run away, back to the bull. A miniscule amount of blood trickled from the tear the white fae had made upon the female caribou.
The bull slowed considerably after his innards had been released. His kicking now was more like the stiffening of muscles when one was about to pass on, a lot of twitching and seizure-ing went on. He was nearly bled out. Slowly the majestic 6 foot brujo stopped moving, and his whole being fell limp. He was dead.
Lakota felt, but couldn't respond to or help whoever was trying to move the bull. Her mind was like static on a TV screen. Another hard thud and she felt light brush her eyelids.
Cloud's voice she heard, and tried to open her eyes. The left eye was swollen shut, her left aud hang useless, not torn, but damaged so badly she would never be able to move it again. Her right eye opened; just barely, appearing like the waning moon, a thin slit in a sky of black. ::Ohhh. . . .:: She thought, pool focused on Cloud, and tried to respond. Lakota was beyond pain in a world called shock. "Mrrrrrrr.....rrrrr...." was all the badly damaged hunter could manage, her lungs were still beneath the weight of the bull, and one lung was indeed collapsed from a rib puncturing it. Blood was filling both lungs quickly, and from her nares a slow drip of bright red fluid emanated. It could have been mistaken for a nosebleed if not for the trail of blood puddling the grass from where her broken jaw was slack, and a few ivories could be seen, also bloodstained.
The healthy female caribou readied herself for another round of charging, this time at Keeper, who was still holding on. The injured female was trying to get up, and had managed to lift her back haunches, but could not seem to work the injured leg.

A throaty roar was heard. Out from the woods on the northern side of the clearing stood a bear, raised to it's full height of eight feet. The brown behemoth had been stalking the caribou himself, and was the one that injured the third caribou, the one that was presently trying to get up and help her sister.
With a dull thump the bear returned to all fours and charged at the injured doe, large mouth agape and showing all daggers he possessed. Sensing the doom that was about to befall her, she cried for her sister, who was still after the wolves.
The healthy doe had just lowered her rake and was about to charge when her sister called out. She raised her head, and upon seeing the bear she changed her mind about charging the other wolf. The bull was dead, no need to defend him now, not when there was another who was alive who needed help. She ran at the bear, antlers down.

Keeper opened his orbs and let go of the bull when he felt it go limp under him. Good. It's dead. He thought as he raised his pounding dail and saw the bear and doe confrontation. He sighed wearily and turned, but stopped immediantly when he saw the scence before him.
Terror siezed his heart and a strangled cry escaped his maw as he saw Lakota's head purtuding from under the bull.
Keeper's anger and fears came out with an angry roar.
"No!!!!" He roared, turning and slamming into the dead bull with his full weight. The bull's body moved considerably, freeing Lakota's battered body. Keeper roared agian at seeing her and attacked the bull, his teeth savaging the bull's flesh as his anger began to ebb.....

When the gray brutes anger had subsided, he turned back to Cloud and Lakota, his ice-blue orbs filled with unshead tears. Gently, he lowered himself down to the ground in front of Lakota and gently licked her maw.
"Lakota, please, please forgive me. I never ment to put you in danger." he whispered to her, his voice filled with grief and pain. The tears slowly trickled down his face into the Earth below.

Cloud bent down next to Keeper, slowly licking away the blood and pus on the top of Lakota's head. She remembered her mother used to do this when she was in pain or had hurt herself. Cloud's orbs filled with tears, not only for Lakota, but for the memory of her mother. She had no idea if she even was alive.
"Lakota, please be okay, I can help, just please, be okay," she murmured, trying hard not to scream.
The scream of a wolf is the worst thing to hear in the entire world. Filled with anger, hatred, sadness, remorse, revenge, and fierceness, nobody has ever heard a wolf scream and forgotton it.
Cloud looked up at Keeper, her heart full of pain and sorrow.
"M'lord, I don't think she is going to make it. By the looks of it, she has a ruptured lung, a broken rib, and a broken jaw. My mother was a healer-wolf, and before I left, she taught me everything she knew."
Cloud rushed on, now not able to stop because of panic.
"She needs to be gotten into the forest immediately where she will have a slim if any chance of survival. I know some herbs there that will help stop the bleeding, but I'm not sure I can fix her lung. There are some plants that can sometimes fix internal wounds but since there is no break in the skin, I am not sure how serious it is. I think the rib has punctured her lung, so that is also bad," Cloud said.
She paused for breath and noticed Keeper was looking at her.
"What?" she asked.

Keeper blinked wildly as a wash of feelings overwashed him. Grief, pain, loss, anger, all mixed together do not make a good combination. He didn't relieze he was staring at Cloud until her voice broke his haze. He blinked and choked back a lump in his throat and looked hard at Lakota. He blinked back some unshead tears and nodded glumly. <ooc- s'kay. I understand. Sorry so short, I haveta run... >

((So sorry I couldn't post earlier. I tried to check my grades after I posted as Bandarra, and it said I had unpaid parking tickets (so I couldn't see my grades). Which means public safety denied my appeals. So I had to go over there and file harassment charges against the person that wrote both tickets. I'm not normally the kind of person to do that, but I've only had one other parking ticket since I was in Murray (three years now), and the person I'm filing harassment on wrote me /two/ tickets in one week, didn't put them on my car (they are supposed to put them on your car), and wrote them for falsified charges, and they have no proof that my car was there (no pictures or witnesses). I got interrogated by a cop about it, and I have to go back tomorrow to speak with the person who wrote the tickets and the parking supervisor. I'm unhappy about this. ))

Lakota felt a release of pressure off of her chest. Just barely could she hear the voice of the Cloud and the alphen. Her hearing was fading, from the one good aud she tried to perk. The gravely injured hunter tried to take a breath, after being suffocated so long, but couldn't seem to get her lungs full of air. :: I've failed. . .I've failed as a hunter. . .:: Her static TV screen mind conjured.
Summoning all her energy, she lifted 'er dial, black fur now a shining crimson about her nares. Lower jaw hung at a skewed angle, of little use. She tried to get to her feet, but the message wasn't getting from her brain to her rear pistons anymore. When the bull had landed on her, he broke more than just her ribs, and jaw. His bulk cracked her back, just near her hips. No blood was flowing, except from her maw and nose. Her obsidian pelt was wet with sweat from the caribou.
She pulled her torso up, using the one good pillar, then collapsed, coughing up more of the precious red liquid that was draining the life from her.
She felt her life ebbing away fast. :: I don't want to die. . .Not like this! I can't. . .I've failed everyone. . .:: She tried to take another breath, only managing to get enough of a gulp to say a few words. She forced her only good eye fully open, fully dialated, and looked up t'ward Cloud and Keeper, looking at them but afraid to meet their gazes. Not because they were crying, but because she was so ashamed of herself.
"Sorry. . . ." she choked out of her mangled maw and blood filled throat, "I've failed you. . ."
Her eye closed again and a short hiss of evacuating air escaped her throat. Her ear fell limp and any tenseness in her muscles smoothed out underneath her sweat matted fur.
A deep howl was heard, clearly as the bells of Notre Dame Cathedral. Everywolf knew that howl. It was the Alpha of the alphas. Lakota perked her head, pinnae erect, pools wide and wondering :: Wow! I thought I was dead there for a second! .:: She thought as the howl ceased. She looked at Keeper and Cloud."What are you so sad about? I'm fine! Really, I feel great!"But they ignored her. Suddenly before her eyes, the other two wolves disappeared. In their place was the largest white wolf Lakota had ever seen. His peltage was pure as fresh snow, and sunlight glinted off of his fur almost as if sunlight was coming from his fur.
Lakota's dial dropped automatically out of respect. Jaw hung agape, in astonishment of his size. Slowly she tried to meet his orbs, eyes resting on his perfectly white mitts, trimmed with silver claws; the deep silky fur of his chest, his thick neck and his wise face, ended by a silver nose. His orbs were a sky blue, and Lakota could have sworn the sky was in them, not just reflected off them."Hello, Lakota."He watched her astonishment without so much as a flicker in his features"I am Delphi. The Alpha of the alphas. My mate and I wish for you to join our pack. You have proven yourself loyal to all your other packs, always putting the alpha and the well being of the pack ahead of yourself. We have great need of a hunter with your skills"He explained to her. :: But. . .I have failed my last pack. . .:: She thought :: I was lucky to get out of that hunt alive!:: Her expression showed the shame she felt at letting her alpha down by being stuck under the bull, not able to help or guide them. Delphi smiled at her thoughts, for he could see them as clearly as she could she him. "But that does not matter, young one. . .we need you in our pack. Come, Lakota of the Moors." With those words, the proud Alpha of the alphas vanished. Keeper and Cloud reappeared. Lakota got up, shaking herself of her broken body, and looked at the both of them. She licked both their maws in turn, feeling a deep sadness at leaving the Moors, but wondering what Delphi's pack was like."Do not cry for me. . . please! You will see me again. . .someday. . ."She turned after she had spoken to them, black form fading quickly.

Keeper stepped back and watched the scene unfold before him, his heart wildly pumping nearly out of his chest, his breath caught in his lungs.
"No, Lakota. Please, not now." he moaned, stepping back towards her broken body as she collasped.
His auds pinned back in submission as he heard her broken voice.
"You didn't fail, please. Lakota, don't die..." he creid helplessly, but it was too late. She was gone.
Keeper stood back, tears falling from his orbs as he stared in disbelief at Lakota's body, his grief welling upinseide him.

Still, the clearing was teeming with activity. The bear had boxed the cranium of the injured doe, and ripped her throat, so that she lay bleeding. The healthy doe had charged the massive brown bear several times, her sharp antlers puncturing his hide only slightly.
The strong earth tinted bear walked atop the injured and dying doe, knifelike claws ripping more gouges in her chassis. He hopped down and waddled to her back legs, dragging her easily back to the forest from whence he came. The healthy doe was so frustrated at this. She just kept charging, kicking, and charging. But the bear was unfazed by this.
Neither predator nor prey in this fight seemed aware of what had taken place just meters from their noses.
