Pale paws fell heavily, harsh breathing causing a halo of steam to surround the femme's head. Frost settled everywhere, the cold, merciless sun glaring down at the earth, its bright rays bringing no warmth, no comfort. Chalky pelt rippled as shiver after shiver racked her body, and teeth clacked together rhythimacally.
I /must/ find shelter.... Jewel Scarlet thought desperately, screwing up her eyes suddenly as an icy zephyr blew at her pretty face, teasing apart thick tendrils of fur in an attempt to get to the goose bump covered skin beneath.
I can't lose my pups.... The gale passed, and Jewel's occuli scanned the barren landscape. She had recently emerged from the thick forest that surrounded the Moors and its immediate Outlands, and had arrived at the edge of a grass covered plain. A way to her back was the forest, and the plain streched for miles to her left and right, however before her, in the reasonabley near distance, a hulking great Mountain Range loomed.
Jewel shivered again, and her maw lowered so that she could gaze nervously at her stomach - which now bulged slightly.
As her maw rose once more, eyes focused on something that she hadn't seen before - a large clump of foliage, blending in with the frosty grass and hard to see because of the winds that kept forcing her to shape her eyes into tiny slits.
It should be warmer there.... Jewel thought, and broke into a quick walk. She couldn't run - she had run all the way through the forest, exhausting herslef - a feat she now regretted, for she realised that it wouldn't do to over exert yourself when pregnant.
Finally, after minutes of tromping, during which the small patch of bushes hadn't seemed to come nearer at all, staying infuriateingly far away, Jewel reached the first bush. She sighed with relief and skirted it, arriving before the main clump. Lowering herself into a crouch, she wriggled beneath the branches and flattened herself against the ground.
Jewel was warmer now, and incredibley drowsy. So, her energy sapped and her stomach growling for food, she rested her head on her mitts and fell into a fitful slumber.
