Corwin stood by a ways away from the lake, next to the borders of The Misty Moors. The lake was still in sight, but he wanted to give the wolves a chance to get close and see him, without a lake in the way. He had been sniffing the borders for a few days now, getting to know the wolves by their scent. He knew which wolf was the alpha, just by his smell, but he had yet to see him. Now Corwin was standing just outside their borders. A light breeze swished through the grass around him, bringing exotic scents of a new land, and a new life.
Clear amber eyes hard as flint scanned the horizon. His ears swiveled around to catch the slightest sounds. If I'm going to do this I may as well do it now, he thought, before anyone catches me standing around. And with that he threw back his head in an arch over his back and howled. He howled asking for admittance and acceptance. It was a long howl, and beautiful too. There is nothing like the howl of a wolf. Corwin lowered his head and stared back over the horizon. The sun was setting, and shades of pink and orange flowed over the sky. As he continued to look up it got darker and darker, 'till the sky reached a deep midnight blue. That was his friend, the night. His eyes flickered in the receding light, making him appear ghostlike.
Now all he had to do was wait, and pay enormous respect for the alphas and prove he was loyal and true. That would be hard, after he had left his own pack. The wolf's eyes snapped back to the ground, and he suddenly felt the urge to flatten the tufts of scruffy fur sticking up from his ruff. He hurriedly rubbed his head on his shoulder, and hoped he looked acceptable.

And none too soon did Corwin exude the effort to the upkeep of his appearance then did the deep brown brute with mismatched orbs come bounding t'ward the new male, the casts of orange and red o' the setting sun bouncing off of his peltage, which was stained with black at the maw, pinnae, and front mitts.
"Hello" Achilles greeted Corwin, a slight dip of his midnight painted maw was given as he surveyed the other through one sea green optic, the other a deep blue.
Banner was held to indicate betaship, as indeed he was. Normally gruff and short-tempered with newcomers, Achilles was at least exerting some patience with this one, as he has actually howled for admittance. . .instead of some others that would just strut around like they owned the place.

ooc: we stopped camping for a while to stay in a hotel, which has free internet. woooot. im all the way across the us from where we started.
Corwin watched the wolf run toward him, different colored eyes bounding in the fading light. That was an interesting coloration, he had never seen that before. He didn't stare though, just waited expectantly.
Corwin dipped his head in reply, a bit lower than the other wolf did. He noted that this was beta, by the height of his tail. Corwin lowered his tail in response, to that of submission. The beta looked rather gruff to him. But that could be because he was that much smaller. He suddenly remembered how strange he must look to him. A rather small scruffy wolf boldly asking for attention at the borders of a strong pack. He pushed this thought away impatiently. "H-hello. I am Corwin,"he said, voice gaining confidence as he went, " I am here to ask if I can join the Misty Moors pack. I left my pack because food was scarce, and it would have been suicide to stay. I hope i am not intruding, but i would like to join. Please. " With that he licked the beta lightly on the chin, once again showing submission. Now he drew his head back, and waited for a reply. His eyes shown brightly in the fading light.

Achilles considered this brujo and his story for a moment, odd optics resting on the submissive one. Corwin had done all the right things, yet the decision was not totally up to Achilles. :: I don't see a problem with this one. . .not like some of the others. He seems a little low on confidence, but that's not really a problem that can't be fixed.::
Corwin was looking at him expectantly. Achilles had to say something, the silence was a bit uncofortable. With the bugs and other critters going about their evening rounds, Aki had to speak, or be hypnotized by their sounds.
" To become a member of the Moors you must give your loyalty to all the wolven who reside here. And respect all of us. . .whether you like us or not." He added, thinking of the Mexican wolf, and some others who were less then respectful.
Now it was Achilles who looked at Corwin expectantly. But not with the hopefulness the newcomer had shown. Achilles mismatched gaze was more cold, as to lock in anything he may have been thinking from the other.

Corwin thought a moment before replying. Respect all of the wolves? even the omega? Surely he didn't mean that. Unless he was assuming that he, Corwin was to be omega. Maybe he would start with that lowest rank, but then he must climb a little higher. To be the bane and bother of the wolf pack was not going to be tolerated by Corwin. Of course he would give all the wolves the respect they deserve, but every single wolf was not to be waited on and bowed down to. These thoughts raced through his head while he stood. He betrayed none of these doubts, but the tip of his tail twitched ever so slightly.
"Of course my loyalty is bound to the pack as soon as I am accepted. I will respect those who are indeed worthy of it- whether i like them or not as a wolf. I would be glad to meet the alpha pair of this pack, and be able to use my skills for the benefit of all. Unless you, beta, would accept me without their consent, I would be happy to join you to meet them.
Corwin hoped this didn't sound to bad. He hoped he had made it clear that he wasn't disrespecting this big wolf, just that he wanted to meet the alpha and become park of the pack. He did not want to be a kerl any longer, and hoped he wouldn't have to try else where. This place already seemed wonderful to him, and as Corwin thought of his birthplace, no longer home, he had no regrets about coming here. His eyes brightened, and his pawed kneaded the earth for a moment in excitement and happiness.

Achilles was taken back a bit by the words flowing like music from Corwin's maw. Particularly that most new wolven were too scared to utter more then a "yes", and the brute in front of him spoke in a more distinguished manner than Aki had thought him capable of on first glance.
Puffing up a bit, so as not to be outdone by the newcomer that had shown his keen intelligence, Achilles started, " As beta of Misty Moors, and brother to the alphess I have the privelege and responsibility to sort the wolven deemed worthy to join us and those that are better off elsewhere."
At this he took a deep breath, blinking a bug from his eyes. He wanted to give Corwin a little time to squirm, perhaps think that Achilles was about to tell him to be on his way away from the Moors. He noted that Corwin's already bright eyes brightened even more if that was even possible, and he kneaded at the loam a little. Taking this as a sign that Corwin was tense, the chocolate and licorice brujo continued.
"Corwin. . .if the eloquence of your words are matched by your actions, then the alphas would be more than happy to accept you into the Moors." With that, Achilles expression softened a bit, and he permitted his plume to sway gently. "Welcome to Misty Moors, Corwin."
He froze for a moment, then added, "And the alphess would like to meet you, I'm sure. Taint likes to keep track of her members. This way please." Achilles didn't give Corwin any time to celebrate being accepted, his expression became stern and cool again, as he beckoned for the other to follow him with quick turn on his mitts and a slight flick o' his highly raised banner.

Corwin gave a wolfish smile as those words were spoken: Welcome to the Misty Moors. He had done it, and looking forward to being with a pack again. Suddenly the beta turned, and indicated he follow. He did so, and started after the wolf. So he was off to meet the alphas. That was good news, and hopefully this Taint was a nice enough wolf. It seemed funny that he only mentioned the female though. Usually the male had a little more dominance than the female. Then again, it was his sister. It was then that it occurred to him that he didn't even know the beta's name. Corwin flicked his ears at the thought. He ran forward a bit so that he was even with his sholder. "Excuse me beta," he said quietly, "but i just realized i do not know your name. I really do not want to call you beta, and I assume you want the same."
His paws padded silently beside the nameless wolf's, and he glanced over at him. His black painted muzzle was impressive in the fading light, and the strange eyes seemed to be infinite and deep. Corwin thought he looked awe-inspiring, and he already respected him as beta; not because of looks, but his manner.
ooc: excuse me for the rather short post.

"Achilles" He mentioned absently, mind wandering to Lou and trying to imagine where she could be. He quickly shook off the feeling though. There had been nothing between them, or she would not have disappeared so.Per'aps this was Aki's reason for being more distant than usual.
Chassis moving along in the now darkness, the brown brute thought he noticed Corwin looking him over. Whether Achilles imagined it or not, he snorted a bit and moved along a little faster. "Keep up" He inclined his cranium t'ward the other and metioned.

Corwin bounded steadily after Achilles. Acknowledging the order he dipped his head slightly, and speed up slightly to match his speed. Grasses and the occasional flower whipped past his vision. The night sky was growing increasingly dark, but it did not hinder his vision. A few stars peeked out from behind velvet clouds. The earth smelt sweet and fresh, as of summer, and it tickled his nose. The lake was growing further and further out of site, and he wondered vaguely where Achilles was leading him. To the Alpha female of course, but where was that? He purposed to wait and see, rather then look the idiot and ask where they were going.
