Strong muscles rippled under a thick, shedding coat of steel gray fur as the mighty alpha of the Moors gained ground, leaping up to the top of the cliffs.
Keeper stopped and looked down over his terra, eyes flicking over the landscape, trying to find his mate.
Not finding her, he growled and threw back his head and howled long and deep.
It was a simple howl, ment only for one soul.
(ooc- sorry, I know.... Bad post)

Responding to her mate's howl, Taint flew up the cliff. Paws were carefully placed, pulling her quickly upwards, russet pelt billowing behind her. As she climbed, the air thinned out slightly, so that by the time she was at the top, she was panting.
Amber eyes scanned the top of the cliff, finally resting on her mate. She trotted quickly over to him, emitting a bark of welcome, and greeted him with a swift lick upon the muzzle.
"Yes, Keeper?" She stepped back and tilted her head. "Is something wrong?"

Keeper was scanning the land, lost in his thoughts when Taint showed up.
He sighed and looked at her, suddenly feeling very tired.
"Good Evening Love." He greeted her, returning her kiss with one of his own.
When she asked if something was wrong, Keeper bit down on his tongue, hard. Where do I begin?
Taking a deep breath and throwing caution to the wind, he began:
"Love, I carry some good, great news and some dreadful news too. The good news is is that two of our wolves, including our new beta fae have given birth. The whelps are strong and healthy.
Also, Ghost has laid Raif to rest."
Keeper stopped momentarily for the news to sink in before continuing.
"The bad news is is that the Moors has lost yet another member. Lou and Bullet's younger sister has passed on."
The grizzled alpha trailed off, his thought cloudy.

Taint smiled as Keeper returned her lick, although the expression was fleeting. She watched him carefully, and her face transformed into a concerned expression. Auds perked as he began to speak, listening intently to his words.
The news did not seem bad. In fact, it was wonderful! A small, guarded smile flashed briefly onto the alphena's maw. New additions to the pack! And she had just employed a pup sitter! But these happy thoughts faded as her mate spoke again, voice grave.
Taint released a soft gasp, blinking up at her mate. She remembered Jewel. She hadn't known her properly, only as a kind, bouncy pack member who had been good at lifting spirits. So many deaths in such a short time. Taint shook her head sadly, stepping into her mate so that their chests touched and leaning her head on his shoulder.
"Mixed luck," She murmered sadly. Then, she lifted her head. "How many pups?" She asked, tilting her head. Although life had been taken from the world, new life had also been added. That was what she had meant by mixed luck.

Keeper sighed and leaned into Taint's embrace, closing his eyes for a moment and inhaling in her scent. It was a few minutes before he could respond, for his was savouring the moment.
When he decided he was ready to answer, he broke away and caught her orbs.
"Six. He answered.
But then there was something wlse that pricked his brain. He cleared his throat.
"Milady, Ghost has asked to be the Main Guardian of the pack. He's down at the cave at my order, watching over the pups. I told him that I'd ask you to make sure it would be okay." Keeper stated.
(ooc- writer's block... And a crappy post too...)

Taint smiled. Six healthy pups. The deaths were awful, and she was very sad to lose two pack members in such a short time. But the arrival of pups almost balanced her emotions.
At Keeper's next words, Taint nodded. Ghost was sensible, and had done much for the pack. The rank seemed to suit him, too, for he was like a guardian of the Moors already. He seems to create his owns jobs, Taint thought with a soft, short chuckle.
"That sounds fine to me, Keeper. He is a good wolf, Ghost. If a bit... withdrawn." She said, craning her neck to lick her mate's muzzle fondly.
"Shall we go and visit the pups before we think about memorials?" Taint asked after a moments silence.

Ghost dragged his toungue restlessly over his teeth, thinking. He blinked, but in the end, decided on one answer, the easiest.
He licked one of Taint's auds and answered, "What do you think, milady? You are the brains of this pack."
(ooc- crappy post... Uninspired for Keeper at the mo'.)

Taint smiled at Keeper, eyes shining. He had not changed a bit since he had met him. And he still called her milday!
Oh well. I guess it's my nickname now. Taint thought, smiling and returning his lick.
"Let's go and see the pups. Then, we can call a pack meeting."
She paused for a moment, then frowned, tilting her head to the side.
"Speaking of pups, I haven't seen ours in a while. I wonder what they're up to." She said, then shrugged. Cotton, Pearl, Bantam and Solo were yearlings now. They were probably off exploring the territory properly, as she had at their age. I'll see them at the meeting, anyway. Taint thought, then got to her feet, turned, and began to make her way back down the slope.

Keeper nodded and followed his mate. But when he mentioned their pups, he nodded.
"I'm sure they are okay. They need to get out and learn on their own. Besides, the Moors are safe now. If something would happen, I'm sure we would be the first to know about it."
He smiled at her briefly, then followed her retreating form off of the mountain.
